Billy Goat Lake fishing at Old Angler's Inn at C&O canal in MD -12noon-4pm

Billy Goat Lake fishing at Old Angler's Inn at C&O canal in MD -12noon-4pm

I went to billy goat lake fishing. I saw police cars at the lower parking lot when I got there just before lunch. There was a BMW with the driver side back windows broken. People stole stuff from the BMW. Police were taking finger prints. That was the first time I saw something like this happen. The cop told me it happened a few times this year during the summer time, so don't leave anything valuable in the car.

A policeman on his horse came down to my canoe launch site and told me the electric motor was not allowed in the canal. I was very surprised to hear that but I didn't want to break the rule so I hauled my 70 lbs heavy deep cycle marine battery for 50 yards back to the parking lot. Luckily, the policeman decided to check on his smart phone, and he realized he was wrong. The gas motor is not allowed and the electric motor is not allowed in white water area. So, he quickly apologized to me for lugging the heavy battery back for nothing. whew! I was just happy that I was able to use my trolling motor to get into the lake through the narrow canal, because it was a good 100 yards pedaling without the trolling motor it was going to be a chore. Especially on my way back after a long half day fishing. I saw a lot of fish on my new Raymarine Dragonfly fish finder and GPS combo. I was also able to catch a big bass near the drain tower.

So I continue my hunt for snakeheads 2 days in a row, but only caught 3 more bass. Yesterday people caught snakeheads in shallow water, so I went upriver to almost the sewer emitting duct. The water was so shallow but I saw carp fish, catfish, bass in the shallow water. I didn't see snakeheads. I was able to catch 1 small bass. I went downriver and continues my hunt for snakeheads. Picked up 2 more bass and saw a ton of RED, ORANGE koi fish in the deeper water. I will bring my fly rod and flies to try my luck of the koi fish and see if i can have 1 catch of beautiful koi fish on the youtube.com/njfishing1 channel for you guys to enjoy watching.

four mile run bass and snakehead fishing Saturday 11:30pm-3:45pm on 11/12/2015

We got to the four mile run river with my canoe equipped with minn kota c2 30 lbs push trolling motor and my new toy Raymarine Dragonfly 7 and began fishing. There were 2 nice looking bass fishing boats just arrived in the area and fished with us. One fisherman caught a nice 28" snakehead and he was banging the snakehead with something against his gunwale of his fancy nice looking bass boat with 250 hp powerful outboard motor. The sound caught my attention even he was about a good 50 yards away. So, we went over to check his snakehead and hoping to get a picture of it. But, no his snakehead got away from his line after being hit by him - LOL.

We continued to fish and caught 3 large mouth bass - one bigger than the other. I caught some amazing sonar image from my Dragonfly 7. A carp and a turtle image at 9 feet of water at the intersection of the four mile run river and Potomac river. The water temperature was 62 to 64 degrees and the air temperature was 70 degrees. Very warm December day, people were hiking, biking, running on the bike/walk trail along the river and enjoying the good weather.

We told another nice bass fishing boat 2 fishermen and they told us they picked up a snakehead upriver as well.

Bummer, we were the only one didn't catch the snakeheads. Oh well, until next time.

2 amazing sonar images

So, I went fishing today at Four Mile Run river. Have not been there for a long time. The water temperature was 64 degrees and the air temperature was up to 70 degrees. A warm December day on the 12th. 2 boaters got there about the same time as us. They caught 1 snakehead each. I was so disappointed about myself for getting skunked. Luckily my friend caught 3 large mouth bass. They were not big but at least he didn't get skunked.

I caught 2 amazing sonar images by my new Raymarine Dragonfly 7 fish finder/GPS combo. Raymarine Dragonfly 7. The top screen is the new technology of chirp sonar, and the bottom screen is the downvision sonar.
The first image was 2 turtles swimming 1 on top of the other and it looks as if they are mating. Maybe they are mating in December.

The second image is a  huge carp fish caught on the sonar screen. The tail of the carp is so vivid.
